-Room, Emma Donoghue (told from perspective of 5 year old boy, being held captive with his mother)

-Cutting for Stone, Abraham Verghese (Epic story: twins born to a nun, and the adoptive family of doctors who raise them in Ethiopia)

-Red Hook Road, Ayelet Waldman (Tragic loss involves two families and how they deal with it)
